W. G. Jury states as follows:-

On the 9th. October I went to Taipo. I got

there at 7.30 p.m. I inspected the Exchange Telephone. I slept

the night at Talpe and on Sunday the 10th. October I cleaned

the lightning protectors. I went along the road to the 16 mile

stone and inspected the line. I remained at the Railway Bungalow

I did not get intoxicated that day. I then went back to Taipo

Station. I went back to the Bungalow at 10.30 p.m. I slept the

night there. On Monday at 7.30 a.m. I proceeded to the Exchange.

I remember asking the Interpreter for the morning report. I

remembered nothing more until I found myself in the Lunatic

Asylım, I made a report on Saturday to Mr. Tooker and entered

it in a book at Taipo. I inspected on the way to Taipo the

Kowloon "aterworks Telephone. From Shatin to Lok Lo Ha I

inspected the line. I say I was not suffering from acute

alcoholism when I was admitted to the Hospital. I had been

taking drugs on account of sleeplessness. I sent out my boy to

get me something to send me off to sleep. The boy came back

with a bottle containing a dark brown liquid. I am not able to

say if I attempted to commit suicide. The work I had to do

would have taken me to the following Wednesday. On Saturday I

had three "pegs" of whiskey.

Dr. Koch states as follows:-

Mr. Jury was admitted to the Hospital on

the 11th. October at 4.45 p.m. He was suffering from acuto

alcoholism. He is still a patient in the Hospital. The conditien

Mr. Jury was in was not due to any drug but alcohol. I know

nothing about the suggestion that Mr. Jury attempted suicide.

There were no marks. I am not able to say how long Mr. Jury

had been drinking. He must have been drinking very heavily, to
